Yes, cell-shading is a perfectly legitimate animation style and yes, it’s probable that Borderlands adopted it for similar reasons, ie. It's pretty much standard practice for screenshots to look much more impressive than gameplay. And again, there's no way to know how it looks in motion. In between the black outlines, textures still look pretty bad, and the faces of all the skaters are the worst part. ![]() But given that this was clearly a rush job (the PS2-graphics post I wrote was only three weeks ago), it’s far from perfect. ![]()
